Sollair Energy Project

75 MW of Clean Energy Powering 25,000 Homes on 480 Acres

GL&P has developed the Sollair Solar Energy Facility, a 75 megawatt state-of-the-art Agrivoltaic energy project in Rocky View County. The facility is located east of the QE2 highway on Township Road 274, north of the City of Airdrie. Sollair covers 480 acres of land owned by GL&P and will provide renewable energy to power an estimated 25,000 homes.

Pioneering the Worlds Largest Purpose Built Agrivoltaic Development

GL&P recognizes that Sollair is developed on historically cultivated Alberta farmland. In recognition and support of this, GL&P has committed to developing the largest scale purpose-built Agrivoltaic project in the world. Agrivoltaic facilities are photovoltaic generation projects where the land is simultaneously used for agricultural purposes. GL&P has initiated its own Agrivoltaic activities, including crop production, sheep grazing, and beekeeping. In conjunction with these activities GL&P has partnered with Olds College to collaborate on Agrivoltaic field research with the intent to advance industry knowledge.
